For Sale: 1964 Lincoln Continental in Jefferson, Wisconsin for sale in Jefferson, WI

1 of 42
Vehicle Description This car has always resided in Dane County, WI.
It has only had three owners.
The most recent owned it for 18 years.
I recall seeing it at local events.
Due to his passing, his widow reached out to me and offered it for sale.
She and her husband were both true car buffs, but her taste is geared more to the muscle cars of the late 60's.
Fortunately, none of the three owners drove the car in the winter and it has always been afforded good storage and care.
Just as you would expect for a Lincoln.
When I first learned of the car being for sale, my concerns were related to the mechanical and electrical systems of the Lincoln.
There is a lot to go wrong and repairs can be challenging and expensive.
When we talked and when I inspected the car, my concerns waned.
This car has been very well cared for and driven sparingly.
The odometer reads 59369 miles.
I have no documentation that this is actual mileage and the title shows the car to be EXEMPT from odometer disclosure due to age.
But when I evaluate the condition of the car, it is quite possible that the actual mileage is stated on the odometer.
Because it was always a summer-driven car, it is probable that the top was down most of the time.
I can see some dryness to the original leather upholstery, but have to respect that it is original.
The carpet is original to the car and still shows nicely.
The driver's food pad displays the Lincoln crest.
The Sun-X tinted glass is original, as is the chrome and stainless.
While not perfect, it is in great condition for being original.
I was told that the engine was rebuilt.
I am very familiar with the man who did the work and have great confidence that it was done properly.
The carburetor was also rebuilt.
The engine starts with ease and runs perfectly.
I drove the car about twenty miles on the very hot day of purchase.
I ran and drove perfectly.
The top mechanism on these cars is quite intricate.
There are lots of switches and motors.
This system was gone through and it works perfectly.
I have raised and lowered the top and it is amazing to watch the sequence of events.
The braking system has also been rebuilt.
The convertible top was replaced.
Upon inspection, every feature of this car is functioning properly.
I would have been suspicious of the radio, power antenna, power top, power windows, power vent windows, power seat, power locks and the lights.
But they all work properly.
The windows go up and down rapidly.
Who would have guessed that the power antenna works and that it brings in a strong signal for the factory AM/FM radio? This car was built on December 9, 1963.
It was sold new in Madison, WI.
It is powered by its original 430 MEL engine and propelled by the Dual-Range Turbo Drive Automatic transmission.
The rear axle ratio is 2.
89 to 1.
It has been repainted to the original Huron Blue.
The Light Blue interior is all original.
It is nicely equipped with lots of power options, remote controlled outside mirror, map light, Autotronic eye, color coordinated seat belts, gauges, and windshield washer.
The original 9.
00x15 bias ply tires have been replaced by a similar sized 235/75/15 radial.
The tires have plenty of tread.
The car tracks well and handles as you would expect it to.
It is truly a great driving car.
The engine has plenty of power.
It was recently rebuilt, tuned and adjusted.
The transmission shifts properly.
It handles freeway speeds with ease.
There is no effort required to drive this big Lincoln.
I would classify this as a high quality driver.
Due to the originality, it displays some age.
Yet, it truly is a great looking car.
It has a nice repaint, the original chrome and stainless show minimal flaws, the original leather upholstery is dry, but certainly not unsightly.
You should be proud to display this iconic convertible.
It is amazing that this car is in such great condition for being a lifelong Wisconsin car.
It is very fortunate that its three owners have not driven it in the winter and have provided it with the care it deserves.
Lincoln Continental Convertibles are wonderful, luxurious and desirable.
And great to drive!.
