Vehicle Description This old farm truck still looks pretty good.
And it pulls VERY GOOD.
It can be driven on the street, but you won't like the gearing and fuel economy.
It's a bit rusty and crusty, but still looks great going down the track.
Let's discuss the body first:
the inner rockers and cab corners have been replaced.
The work is not professional, but it makes the truck appear to be solid.
The front of the hood is rusty.
Likely not worth fixing, just replace it.
There are a few areas around the truck that have some body filler.
This old truck is 45 years old and it was used as a truck.
Don't get your expectations too high.
Yet, from 20 feet, or from the grandstands, it looks good.
The interior is decent.
The seat is real nice.
There are aftermarket gauges that are screwed to the dash.
The radio is an older aftermarket thing.
I didn't even try it to see if it works.
The steering column tilts.
The glass is all good and the windows roll up and down.
The box is dented and has some rough spots in the floor.
It is covered by a tonneau cover.
The diamond tread Aluminum tool box contains the 15 gallon fuel cell.
There is an electric fuel pump.
Lots of storage in the box.
The value of this truck lies in the power train.
The GM 454 HO Crate Engine has only a few runs on it.
This engine was on the dyno and made 490 HP and 535 foot pounds of Torque.

The block is cast iron with four bolt mains.
The pistons are Forged Aluminum.
The rods and crank shaft are steel.
This engine has a hydraulic roller tappet camshaft with 510 intake and 540 exhaust lift.
The valves are 2.
19 intake and 1.
88 exhaust.
It has 1.

These engines cannot be purchased for less than $7000.
The intake manifold is Aluminum.
It is topped by an 850 Holley Double Pumper carburetor.
The ignition is HEI.
The radiator is Aluminum.
There are two electric cooling fans.
The exhaust manifolds are cast iron.
The mufflers are glass packs.
The exhaust ends just ahead of the rear axle.
The Turbo 400 automatic transmission has been built for pulling.
It has a high stall convertor, shift kit and lots of good components that allow it to perform.
The transfer case is divorced.
It is in Four Low, so just put the transmission into Drive and get after it.
It is very simple to drive this truck.
The rear axles is the GM Corporate 14 bolt.
They are tough, yet easy to find.
The front is a Dana 44.
Both have 5.

The front hubs have lock-out capability.
The steering and brakes are both power assisted.
The front brakes are disc.
There are extra leafs added to the spring stacks.
The shock absorbers are new.
The wheels are like new white wagon wheel style.
The BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A Baja Champion tires are 31x10.
5R15LT in size.
They are in great condition and have a lot of tread.
The safety equipment includes a fire extinguisher, seat belts, driveshaft loops and a safety switch at the rear.
This truck was campaigned by an older gentleman from Central Iowa.
He recently retired due to his health.
Just prior to that, he installed the new crate engine and the rebuilt transmission.
He had won the points championship in his class the previous two years.
This truck is certainly capable of being competitive in Street Stock.
I am looking forward to giving it a go myself.
It is completely ready to go.
It has been thoroughly inspected and prepared.
The fuel tank is full, as are all fluids.
I hope to have the opportunity to burn up some of the gas.
