Vehicle Description 1965 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Holiday Sedan This is a two owner car.
It spent the first part of its life in Chicago, then moved to the Gulf Coast of Florida.
I purchased it from the son of the man who purchased it brand new.
This car was built at the Fairfax, KS factory and purchased new by a Chicago Police officer at Nortown Motors of Chicago.
The original purchase document is with the car.
The price was $4571.
That's a lot of money for a 1965 automobile.
The price was high because this car is so well equipped.
The list of options is rather lengthy, so please follow along patiently.
It has the 425 Oldsmobile Rocket V8.
It is equipped with a Rochester four barrel carburetor.
I am guessing it was of the 310HP rating.
It requires premium gasoline due to the compression ratio.
1965 was the first year of the Turbo 400 Hydramatic transmission.
This car has 2.
93 rear end gears and Anti-spin traction control.
Of course it has power steering and brakes.
It also has Soft Ray tinted glass to go along with the Air Conditioning.
The window are power, as are the six-way seat and antenna.
The radio is AM pushbutton and it has the Wonderbar seeking feature.
In addition, there are both front and rear speakers with fade control.
This sound system even has switchable Reverberation.
There is a rear window defroster and vacuum deck lid release control.
There are plenty of auxiliary lights.
There is Safety Sentinel speed warning.
Aftermarket auxiliary gauges have been installed.
The color is Lucerne Blue.
The interior is a combination of vinyl and cloth in a blue color scheme.
The original rubber Oldsmobile floor mats are in great condition.
This car has Door Edge guards and four-note horns.
The original Owner's Manual and information tags are in the glove box.
The trunk is equipped with the proper jacking equipment and original bias ply spare tire.
The original trunk mat is in great shape.
There are numerous sets of keys that actuate all locks.
The undercarriage was undercoated when the car was new.
It has perfectly preserved the integrity of the floors and frame.
The interior of the car is in remarkable condition.
The upholstery, carpet, headliner, door panels, dash and visors are all original to the car and in very good condition.
Very little wear is shown.
The body is straight and shows no sign of ever having been damaged or corroded.
It was repainted a long time ago utilizing a base coat/clear coat finish.
Due to the car being driven in Florida, there are some scratches and chips, but overall, the car looks very nice.
The original trim and chrome are in great shape with just a bit of imperfection above the tail pipe on the rear bumper.
The original style bias ply tires are long gone.
The most recent set of radial tires was just installed.
They are not of the proper diameter because that size is not available.
I do have a brand new set of bias ply tires of the proper diameter if you want that look and will sacrifice the handling and ride offered by radials.
The odometer reading of 60,675 is said to be actual.
In discussion with the Son of the original owner, he was very straight forward and truthful.
My inspection of the car supports this claim, yet there is no documentation to prove it beyond a doubt.
So the car is being sold exempt of odometer disclosure due to age.
The engine and transmission perform extremely well.
All lights work properly.
All features of the car work as they should with the exception of the passenger rear window and the Air Conditioning.
The window does not go up or down.
I suspect a poor connection, but didn't take time to investigate.
The Air Conditioning system is intact and the compressor is not seized.
There is no Freon in the system.
Now would be the time to convert it to 134a Freon.
Due to pride of ownership, excellent care and limited use, this car has stood the test of time exceptionally well.
It is very, very original and still looks and acts like it would have 40 years ago.
You can drive it with confidence and it will attract lots of looks.
It will be well received at any local car show or cruise night.
